Effective August 10, 2026 · Version 1.0
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Wovo mobile app, the Wovo website, and related support and safety services. “Wovo,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of these services.
2. Information we collect
Account and age information
We collect your email address, authentication records, and date of birth. We use date of birth to confirm that you are at least 18. We may also receive limited sign-in information from Apple if you choose Sign in with Apple.
Profile and community content
We process the display name, handle, pronouns, bio, photos, prompts, interests, communities, posts, comments, messages, event details, reactions, and other content you choose to provide. Some profile and community content is visible to other Wovo members.
Connections and activity
We process waves, friendships, community memberships, event responses, blocks, reports, moderation records, and the basic timestamps needed to operate these features.
Technical information
We may process device and app information, push notification tokens, IP-derived security signals, logs, and crash or performance diagnostics. Optional analytics and crash-reporting providers remain inactive until configured.
3. How we use information
- Provide accounts, profiles, communities, messaging, events, notifications, and support.
- Confirm age eligibility and enforce the adults-only rule.
- Screen content, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and enforce our rules.
- Maintain reliability, diagnose problems, secure the service, and improve product experience.
- Comply with law, protect rights and safety, and respond to valid legal requests.
4. Automated moderation
User-generated text and supported images may be sent to a moderation provider before publication. The app’s authoritative content writes run on the server, so a modified client cannot simply skip this check. Automated systems are a first pass; reports, appeals, uncertain decisions, and high-risk safety matters may require human review.
Important: private messages are still content processed to deliver the service and keep Wovo safe. Do not use Wovo to store information that must remain legally privileged or highly confidential.
5. Service providers and sharing
We use vendors to operate the service, including Supabase for authentication, database, realtime features, storage, and server functions; OpenAI for automated content moderation and optional avatar generation; Cloudflare for the public website; Expo and Apple for app distribution and notifications; and Resend for transactional email when enabled. These providers process data on our behalf under their own contractual and security obligations.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect a person from serious harm, to investigate abuse, or as part of a business transaction with appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information or use Wovo content for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Retention
We generally keep account information while your account is active. Account deletion removes or de-identifies account content according to our deletion process. We may retain limited security, fraud, report, legal, and transaction records for as long as reasonably necessary to protect users, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Backup deletion can take additional time.
7. Your choices and rights
- Edit profile content and notification preferences in the app.
- Block or report another member from relevant profiles and content.
- Delete your account from Profile → Settings → Delete account.
- Ask to access, correct, export, or delete personal information, subject to applicable law.
- Appeal a moderation decision through the support channel.
8. Adults only
Wovo is not directed to anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we may suspend it, remove its content, and take the safety steps described in our Child Safety Standards.
9. Security and international processing
We use access controls, encrypted transport, database row-level security, server-side authorization, and restricted service credentials. No system can guarantee perfect security. Our providers may process information in the United States and other locations where they operate, subject to applicable safeguards.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when a material change requires it.
11. Contact
Use our secure support form for privacy requests. In the app, you can also use Profile → Settings → Support. Do not submit emergency reports through ordinary privacy requests.
